Pier Bergonzi new Ambassador of Emilia Romagna's wines

Emilia Romagna has a new prestigious ambassor for its wines. It's Pier Bergonzi, vice director of sports newspaper "Gazzetta dello Sport", who has been awarded last 11th December with the title of "Wine Ambassador". This special award from Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna aims at recognize the work of the people who promote and spread with passion their love for regional wines.

Our country is extraordinary and unique for its rich variety of products. Italy's the 1st country in the world for autoctonous grapes, many of which are grown in Emilia Romagna. Every time I come to this region I discover something new - explains Bergonzi at the award ceremony - A region which is able to produce massive quantities of wine, but also quality and even excellent wines. A region which promotes the union between big cooperative wine-growers association and small-medium producers. - Together.

In order to further promote this extraordinary grapes variety , next year we will launch the new project "Emilia Romagna a tutto campo", a full court press promotion of Emilia Romagna wine production - declares Ambrogio Manzi, Director of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna - Even if Italy will not partecipate at the next Football World Cup, we will present our "team": 11 main regional wines will be "trained" by national and international journalists, who will have the task to promote them troughout the year, with the leadership of the "team manager" Luca Gardini.

Luca Gardini, best worldwide sommelier in 2013, is the author of a special column in the newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, from which he explores the wine panorama of the country and of Emilia Romagna, of course: I am very happy to work together with the Emilia Romagna team. Our goal will be to tell about these wines in a new easy and dynamic way, to give them more and more value and recognisability.
