The underground vaults of the Sforza Castle are home to the wine exhibition:
a 1,000 square meter cellar where more than 1,000 Emilia-Romagna wines are displayed, all of them periodically selected by a tasting panel. Here one can find, and buy, any type of wine, from sparkling to dessert wines, as well as balsamic vinegars and spirits, along an itinerary based on food matching principles, to help less experienced visitors to better get their bearing among products.
"Easy" tastings
The exhibition allows visitors to taste a number of wines freely and at really low costs. Just buy a rechargeable chip card at the entrance and go to the special automatic vending machine: insert the card, select one bottle, and place your glass under the tap. This system guarantees that selected wines are perfectly preserved and served at the right temperature. In this way, everybody can taste any wine freely, without necessarily relying on staff.
Wine-bar
The wine exhibition premises also feature the Wine-Bar of Enoteca Regionale, where local wines and products can be tasted under the guide of experienced sommeliers and where soirees, tasting courses and themed wine tastings are periodically held. Tasting sessions for groups, delegations and journalists can be also arranged in the wine-bar (on booking, only on weekdays).
